At the 2018 Esri GeoConX conference Fabion Kauker from 3-GIS and Tim Sherman from Ervin Cable and Construction gave a presentation entitled “Don’t miss a beat, change your engineering workflow and move faster”. The presentation featured a step-by-step breakdown of the design process for a fiber network for both a traditional paper design and the Human in the Loop (HitL) workflow that utilizes automation, and compared the differences between the two. Fabion and Tim demonstrated how the HitL workflow adds speed to the engineering process and gives organizations the scalability to manage more and larger projects without having to duplicate efforts.
The presentation also explored the importance of data models, specifically how using a single data model is beneficial for automation and allowing field edits to be seen across the entire enterprise.
