About the author
Simon Carson started work for British Telecom as an access network engineer in a career that spanned more than 39 years with the company. During that time, he fulfilled several senior IT leadership roles across system design and architecture, focusing on inventory management and workflow.
With hands-on coding experience, Simon’s area of expertise is Graphical Information Systems and how they relate to Openreach’s physical inventory and plan and build processes. He has expert knowledge with Esri, Ericsson Network Engineer, PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, Python, SQL, QGIS and Geoserver. Following retirement from BT in 2023, Simon has worked in a consultancy role for 3-GIS in the UK since March 2024.
